Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are a group of hardworking and inquisitive learners. They work hard, and they play hard. I have worked with them for several years as their sponsor of our school Technology Club. I am following them from grade to grade and have come to know that they love to immerse themselves in creative, innovative and challenging hands-on experiences.
My school is dedicated to teaching to the whole child, so I want to fill every day with an active discovery that challenges the mind and body.
Our school also promotes the idea that we can always challenge ourselves to reach greater levels of achievement. This respects the individual learning levels of my students and promotes language, collaboration, innovation, creativity, and endurance. This approach is important in a community that lacks extracurricular opportunities and struggles with language because of economic and academic disadvantage.
My Project
A Cricut Maker with fonts and a set of pens will give students opportunities to bring their writing to life. While using their creativity to tell stories, they will equally use their artistic abilities to enhance those stories. They will pair the Cricut with a computer and design cover art, story advertisements, and illustrations.
The Cricut Maker enhances unique writing with unique art.
The pairing of writing and art will take literacy to the next level. Students will be motivated to naturally connect words and images to experience newly invented stories in a visual way. Thank you for any support that you can provide for this innovative project.
