This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Next school year, I am moving grade levels for the first time in almost a decade. I will be teaching 8th grade and I want to set my students up for success. One area I want to improve in my teaching next year is helping students write and reflect on their growth throughout the year.
I want to implement journal writing at the start of every class.
This will look like quick writes, free writes, creative writing, quote analysis, etc. The notebooks I need for this project will become a living document where students will write many of their rough drafts and brainstorming for longer assignments so they can reflect, revise and adjust their skills throughout the year.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
