Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As an educator, I aim for my students to see themselves as academic scholars and kindness champions! I have a diverse group of students with unique learning styles who come together to create an all-inclusive, amazing learning community.

Our classroom is our home away from home, it's a reflection of who we are and what we value!

My students are writing up a storm! Soon my fourth grade writers will feverishly write information books. As we weave our way through the writing process, I would like to give my students new tools to keep them writing long and strong. Students will love using the Clickart pens to write colorful chapter titles and headings in their information books. Books such as, A Place to Land: Martin Luther King Jr. and the Speech That Inspired a Nation and Two Friends: Susan B. Anthony and Frederick Douglass will be powerful mentor texts. These books will help students work through writer's block, develop their writer's craft and see that collaborating with classmates on a writing piece will make their writing more powerful. Thirty-five students means thirty-five writers with different writing needs. The book, A Teacher's Guide to Mentor Texts, K-5, will help all my students receive the best writing instruction that they can!
