My Students
Our students have challenging home lives. The school provides free breakfast and lunch; yet, most of them go hungry on the weekends. Despite these hardships, they are eager to learn and do their best.
My students are creative and talented.
The public library is too far away for them to experience the colorful children's story room. With the help of DonorsChoose.org project money, I plan to provide them with an inviting library of their own where they can explore, create, and achieve success.
My Project
Writing follows reading naturally. In the library, reading fiction for book reports/summaries and nonfiction for facts/research projects has always been the norm. I want to change the way students think and use the library to explore and discover and write about something that is meaning to them or curious about outside of curriculum requirements.
By supplying students with fun colorful tape to decorate their notebooks and tape writing prompts, encourage them to produce creative nonfiction pieces to showcase.
I will provide some writing prompts, a composition notebook/journal, and quiet, creative environment and I need you to give personalized craft items.
