Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My class is a diverse group of sixth graders including high achieving gifted students, learning disabled struggling students, physically challenged students, emotional challenged students, and everyone in between who love seeing their writing projects completed in color.
Due to crowded living conditions, many of the students don't have a safe place to work on school projects at home.
In fact, the majority of my students do not have home libraries or home computers and printers, so when they work on their writing projects, they rely on our classroom computers and printers. On "print day" there is always an excitement in the air as students wait to see their final projects come to life in color, unfortunately we run out of ink quickly.
My Project
Every child deserves the opportunity to learn technology skills in school because technology skills are vital to everyday life for the students. Students need to develop Internet research skills and typing skills to be prepared for high school projects. Writing projects, whether creating a narrative or researching a current event, need to take students through the whole creative process from brainstorming to publishing. These projects require to be printed as the final step of the process. Students take such pride in their work when the hold the final printer copy in their hands.

As students develop their literary writing skills, technology research skills, and typing skills, they want to complete projects so they can share their accomplishments with their families. The completed projects help to foster self pride in the students. Feeling good about yourself and your abilities will be a lifelong benefit for the students. Your donation will make a difference!
