Writing Foundations

My Students

My students are eager to learn and support each other daily. They are kind. They are loving. They are smart. They are funny. They completely steal my heart every day.

I am lucky enough to watch them learn and grow together 5 days a week.

We learn so much daily, while learning to problem solve, work together, and learn through our own ultimate experience.

My Project

My kindergarten class will use these journals daily. We will be learning to write letters, words, and sentences throughout our school year. The phonics journal will help incorporate the foundation in learning to read and write.

My students take ownership in a journal that they can call their own.

They love to write. They love to draw pictures and become their own author and illustrator. I learn so much about their little personalities by reading and responding to their journals. It is truly a beautiful process to watch them learn and grow to love reading and writing. I will also be using the teacher pay teacher gift card to purchase fine motor bin activities. Fine motor skills play a large part in student writing, in fact they are the true building block for students before they even begin to pick up a pencil. My students will use fine motor tub activities by Tara West to start out the school year and slowly they will build fine motor skills from August to May.
