Each day is an adventure in our classroom for first and second graders with disabilities. All students are working on reading, writing, counting as well as self-help and motor goals. They enjoy playing and learning through different modalities.
In our classroom we celebrate small accomplishments everyday.
Each student has unique ways of accessing the curriculum as well as showing comprehension. Our students need nontraditional items to motivate them to accomplish goals. We have to think outside the box in order to grow skills.
Writing is an important part of any first or second grader's schooling.
Writing is a daily struggle in our classroom.
We are always looking for ways to engage students so their skills will continue to grow. None of my students are traditional learners therefore the traditional ways of writing do not work. They are highly motivated by new and different ways to show their work.
With the use of various tools such as e-writers, magnadoodles, magnetic writing boards and stamps the students would have multiple ways to show writing and comprehension. We want them to learn writing can be fun!
