My Students
My class is the perfect mix of students from different backgrounds, abilities, and interests. While some are strong readers, others are still mastering letter recognition and sounds. Similarly, some students have excelled at mathematical concepts and practices, yet others are still trying to identify numerals one through ten. Although their skills fall all across the spectrum, one thing they all have in common is their love for school, learning, and life!
In the classroom, inclusion and a sense of community is just as important as education!
We work together to keep the room safe and harmonious; we celebrate one another and our differences, and we always strive to lift others up with kind words. Even though at times some may struggle with the curriculum, getting along, and following directions, one thing I can count on from this vivacious and curious group of children is that they never give up! They are the future!
My Project
This is my first year teaching a self contained bridge class. These students are fighters. They don't give up. No matter how hard a task may seem, they try.
Writing has not come easy to many; they have struggled to draw clear representation of their story, write clear sentences, and use phonetic knowledge to write unknown words, but despite their struggles, they all continue to write; they don't give up.
They write stories about their families, playing at the park with friends, going to the doctor to get a shot, to pieces about their favorite video game, movie, and food.
In such a short time, I have seen these students grow as writers. They are adding more letters for sounds they hear in unfamiliar words, adding more detail, and writing about a topic across the pages. With all this writing they are doing, supplies are running low. We need black pens to continue writing masterpieces, crayons and markers to add art to our stories, for example. Please help us get the materials we need to grow even more as authors!
