This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach kindergarten at a public school in urban LA County. I have 26 lively five year olds. My kindergarten students come from various socioeconomic levels and various ethnicities. Some are English language learners, and some are students with special needs. Many receive free or reduced lunch. All are excited about being in kindergarten. For some this is their very first time in school as they have never been to preschool. All are excited to learn and be at school each day.

My Project

My kinders love to write and our writing center is one of their favorite things to use. It is stocked with writing materials such as: "Magic Boards" (which are like the old "Etch a Sketch") and white boards and paper as well as markers and address labels and scissors and glue. They use all of these items to practice their writing. It is getting to be the end of the year and we need a few replacement items for our center. Our markers have run dry, our labels have run out, our Magic Boards are not erasing like they should and our white board erasers have seen better days. I am hopeful that with your help we can get the few items that we need.
