Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach 5th and 6th grade students with disabilities. They struggle with taking notes and analyzing directions and texts. With these materials, I can easily print things in color for them and help them analyze a text by color coding what they are reading. They need pencils and notebooks to be able to complete vocabulary assignments to better help them access the general education curriculum. They struggle to express themselves in words so this allows them to write what they want to say. All the materials are going back to the kids. They come from homes that cannot afford to even send them to school with a backpack. We want them to feel that they can be successful at school which means we give them the materials and utensils they need. We are running low on these resources and need more. Our students have forgotten what it is like to use materials like these and we need to be able to teach them how to study, read from paper, and write on paper to prepare them for the real world.
