This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Bullying can cause devastating emotional and psychological damage to any child. Any child is subject to this abuse. Anti-Bullying Educating for our youth and the consequences that bullying can cause can be the beginning of the end of bullying.

I have the pleasure of being the teacher to 24 smart, enthusiastic 1st grade students.

Students who are excited to learn, and are gaining the necessary skills needed to become life long learners. 100% of my students participate in the free lunch program. They come from low income working class families that live in or close to one of Los Angeles low income housing complexes.

My Project

My students live in a very rough area of Los Angeles, they need to learn to be strong and to help themselves as well as those who need it. Since the area where they live is a rough one my students are exposed to bullies in and out of school. The books that I am requesting will help me teach them what a bully is, how to avoid being one, what strategies to use in case they or someone they know is bullied and how to prevent bullying incidents in and out of school. The journals that I am requesting will be used in class so that they can write about their feelings and what they know about bullies. The paper, folders and pocket protectors will be used to make take home journals so that my students will also have an outlet to write about bullying and how to prevent it when they are home. Many students have a hard time talking about their feelings, especially if they feel that they are "telling" on those who bully therefor these journals will be a great outlet for their feelings on bullying.
