This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are wonderful, hardworking, students that live in a low socioeconomic community in California. Even though they're up against the odds, they show up everyday eager to learn and work. My students are still at an age where they are passionate about learning and curious about the world. Being from a poor community, many of my students do not have all the materials they need to be successful. Unfortunately, our school isn't able to provide them with those materials because of budget restrictions. Many of my students don't have the basic materials to be successful because of their families' financial restrictions. I believe that students can only succeed if they have the right tools.

My Project

My students are writing informative essays about influential people. These books for the "Who Was?" series provide my students with insight on some of the most influential people that help change the world. These books will allow my students to research the person and learn about them at their reading level. The books will keep my student engaged on their assignment.

I also envision using many of the book during Black History month in order to teach my students about influential African American and their impact on the world.

They will be able to research and create infographics on the person of their choice.
