Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Even though technology is so important, pencil and paper are still a necessity!
I have 24 students in my class.
14 of them are English language learners and the majority are on free or reduced lunch. My students are from a Title One school. Many of them come from economically disadvantaged circumstances. Even though they face economic challenges, they come to school each day eager to learn new things.
My Project
Writer's Workshop is an amazing way to teach writing. It starts with a mini lesson where the teacher teaches a short lesson and then the students are encouraged to use that lesson learned in their writing. The proper supplies are needed to make this efficient and effective. The chart paper and pens are needed for the mini lesson and anchor charts. The students need the pencils, glue, tape, pens and stapler for their writing. I like to set up a writing station, which gives my students to the independence to get their own supplies. There is nothing worse than running out of staples, tape or glue, right in the middle of creating a book!
These supplies will help my students become better writers.
The writing station also teaches them to be organized with writing. Many of my students don't have these supplies at home so I feel it's my responsibility to provide these tools!
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
