Writers of the Future

My students need writing folders, colored ink, pencils, and paper to help them to become better writers.

My Students

My students come from a low-income neighborhood and face struggles and challenges on a daily basis. Included in their daily challenges are often times financial struggles. All of my students receive a free breakfast and lunch every school day. My goal is to make the classroom a fun and welcoming environment where they can learn and grow regardless of what goes on outside of school. Even with what these kids face on a daily basis, they come to school with a positive outlook and a love for learning!

With the income restrictions placed on the families that I serve, many of my students do not have access to supplies to help them thrive.

My kids love to play, read, move, and everything else that your average kindergartner does in a day. I cannot control what goes on outside of my classroom, but I take pride in what goes on inside of it. I want to make sure that my students strive and that they have what they need to be successful and continue their love of learning.

My Project

My students are learning to become wonderful writers, but they need resources to help them succeed. I have made writing posters to remind them of the rules when writing. These posters will be more effective when printed with colored ink and placed in sheet protectors to keep them usable. Their writing folders will be a place for them refer to these posters and to keep their drafts and their final products.

By funding this project, you are helping my students to learn the fundamentals of writing to become our future writers.

Part of the writing process in kindergarten is illustrating pictures to go with their writing. I have requested some crayons as well so that they are able to make colorful illustrations for their work. They are already doing wonderful work, but this project will help them to do even better and prepare them for their future!
