it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are eager to write and learn new vocabulary to enhance their writing and prepare them for the state testing.
My students are in the third grade in a very poor area.
I ask for school supplies in the beginning of the year, however, most homes are unable to purchase much needed supplies. Most of my students come from poverty. Our school provides free lunch and free breakfast for all students. I would like to better prepare my students for the future by providing opportunities for writing and learning new vocabulary words. I am asking for writing and vocabulary journals to help foster a love of writing.
My Project
My students will be using the journals for creating stories. They will be able to write in their journals everyday to help prepare them for the state test. The vocabulary notebooks will help children that have difficulty with the English language. Most of my students are not English speakers and enhancing vocabulary through the use of vocabulary notebooks will help the students with their writing. My students do not have the background knowledge to understand a lot of the vocabulary words used in our stories each day. I will use these journals every morning and after every story we read.
The donations that have been requested will improve my students education by allowing them the opportunity to have the same advantages as the students from more affluent areas.
My students have a disadvantage because most of their parents cannot afford to buy supplies for their children. I provide a lot for them but its getting very expensive for me. With your help, I can provide them with opportunities to thrive in their writing and learn new vocabulary words to help them with reading comprehension.
