Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My fourth grade students are busy learning long division & multi-digit multiplication in math. Next quarter, they will learn all about fractions. My goal is to introduce more math games to increase student engagement with content and each other.
I'm requesting two sets of Lakeshore wipe & write Pockets to use for creating math games that engage my students in understanding fraction concepts, such as decomposition, making comparisons, and finding equivalencies.
By placing directions and a game board inside the wipe & write pockets, my students will have a hands-on way to learn fractions. They will use the dry erase markers to write on the surface of their wipe & write pocket when solving math problems. They will collaborate with other students when using the pockets & markers to play math games. I will save paper by making fewer copies and switching out papers from the pockets as students show mastery of the objectives from the math games they play.
Thank you for considering my project to bring wipe & write pockets and dry erase markers to my 4th grade classroom to increase engagement with learning math.
