My Students
It’s time to learn about our world and my students are excited about it! Our class is another opportunity in their school day to feel welcomed and treated with dignity while learning about the world around them. Our school is nestled in a primarily Latino community, serving low-income students that qualify for free or reduced lunches. For many students, our school is the only place where they eat three complete meals. This is also the only place where many students find a safe distraction from the streets while learning about their world's rich history and cultures.
My Project
It's time for the second semester and a need for the "write" tools to end the school year right. My students are in need of journals, dry-erase markers, dividers, and paper. After reading meaningful and relatable books that teach students about important themes, like slavery and injustice, they need the proper tools to write their thoughts and reflect on questions.
Your support will mean that students will be able to write and reflect on social issues that continue to affect our society.
The dry erase markers are used to do group reflections on their boards, while the journals and paper are used to transfer their thoughts in a more permanent way. Dividers help students organize the work they have done outside their journals. Your contribution to obtain the supplies we need will create a place for them to pour their thoughts while they practice their writing skills (which are much needed). Together, we can give our students the "write" tools for success!
