Write, Reflect, and Grow: Book Journals for Inspired Learning
Help me give my students the tools they need to engage in Book Clubs with excitement and interest! Your donation will help me provide students the materials to help them respond to reading through highly engaging journaling activities.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I'm excited to try a Book Club with my high school Newcomer students. They will be reading a bilingual graphic novel, Invisible, and responding to their reading. They'll get to respond in their bullet journals using fun tools to creatively reflect and jot what they are learning.
While developing their English language skills in listening and reading, they will also engage in a fun creative way of writing.
This highly engaging method will be effective and I know it will be impactful.
Journaling will encourage deep comprehension:
-it will help students process and reflect on what they’ve read
-it will support them in exploring deeper concepts like character traits, motives, theme, symbolism, and more.
Journaling will help build writing and communication skills:
-regular journaling will enhance students’ ability to articulate thoughts, organize ideas, and develop their unique voice.
Journaling will foster emotional and social growth:
-reflecting on the book they are reading will help them explore emotions, empathize with different perspectives, and relate literature to their own lives. T
