Write On!

My students need writing folders, writing centers, writing and revising flip charts and a writing process pocket chart.

FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Provence's classroom raised $267

This project is fully funded

Nathaniel Hawthorne once wrote "Words - so innocent and powerless as they are, as standing in a dictionary, how potent for good and evil they become in the hands of one who knows how to combine them." I want my students to become the writers who know how to combine words to create powerful and elegant writings.

I am a fourth grade teacher in New York. My students come from low income families, many of which are first generation Americans or the first in their family to attend school in America. Due to the budget cuts in New York teachers are only able to purchase the bare essentials for our classrooms this year. This means our classrooms will lack any teaching and learning tools that add enrichment to our lessons.

With your help I will be able to purchase writing tools that will help my students become lovers of the English Language. Writing, at age 9 and 10, is a daunting task, but when you add in writing centers that will stimulate their thoughts, folders to help them become organized and tools to help them clarify their thoughts, these 9 and 10 year-old children will become tomorrows Pulitzer Prize winners.

Your donations will allow my students to experience writing in a way that makes it easy for them. Watching a child sit and stare at a blank piece of notebook paper waiting for words to appear is heartbreaking. With these teaching and learning tools my students will have many outlets to help them develop their thoughts and poetically get their ideas on paper. Your kind heart will open so many young minds to the world of writing.
