This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Kindergarten has become more rigorous throughout the past few years, and I need materials to keep them engaged and interested in writing.

My students are a great bunch of energetic five to six year-old children who are eager to learn.

The majority of my students are English language learners and have limited resources at home. Our school is not located in a "nice" area and many of our students have to deal with difficult situations in their lives, but they still deserve a great education. I work hard to give them an inviting place to learn, a chance to experience new and memorable things, and an opportunity for a better life.

My Project

With limited budgets, our paper supply at school is always low. I am requesting copy paper for students to use during writer's workshop. The children use the paper to make books about their own lives and ideas. Students learn to write different types of genres, while also learning specific writing strategies and conventions. The cardstock paper is used for publishing a book at the end of our units. The dry erase markers will also give students a chance to practice handwriting and other writing skills on a white board. I want them to be able to experience writing in various ways.

The paper will help bring our writing time to life.

It will engage them and motivate them to write as much as possible. It also empower them to think of themselves as writers with something important to say. At the end of the unit, they will be able to take home and share all their wonderful stories.
