Write On-Wipe Off

My project needs a set of 10 dry erase boards, 30 dry erase markers, dry erase board cleaner, a board doctor for cleaning, dry erase self stick sheets to use on desktops and a tote to store it all in.

FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Russ's classroom raised $135

This project is fully funded

Write on-wipe off practice is perfect for my resource students. I teach 6th, 7th and 8th grade resource which is a special education setting designed to reinforce and strengthen the skills students need to access and do well in general education classes.

My students need individualized and small group instruction on basic reading and math skills. Because my students are primarily kinesthetic and visual learners they need lots of paper, writing utensils, etc. to complete their assignments. Most of them still write in a larger print then their peers who do not have disabilities. My students need to work out math problems step by step and create graphic organizers such as a Venn diagram to analyze a reading passage.

It would be so much easier if my students had small dry erase boards to use individually when working on their assignments. With the dry erase boards, markers, and cleaner they would have a chance to show their work step by step or in graphic organizers, share it with me or their classmates and then erase it to work out the next problem or passage. Dry erase boards make it easy and accessible to show and share work in small groups or individually. It gives the students a larger work area than on paper and this will help many of my students who struggle with dyslexia and dysgraphia. The enlarged area on the dry erase boards will accommodate their larger print. Also, the dry erase sheets will create mobility with their work. They can turn their desktops in my class and in other classrooms into a dry erase surface, thus allowing them to use the surface to show their work.

This is a worthwhile proposal to support because it is inexpensive and yet will create tons of learning opportunities for my students. They will be able to write on and wipe off their work on the dry erase boards and in turn will lock their learning into their memory where it cannot be erased.
