My Project

My students are truly the best. They come to school every day eager to try new things in order to grow socially and academically. They are an inspiration to me.

As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, I see that my students are faced with many challenges both in and out of the classroom.

Young or inexperienced writers need to both observe knowledgeable writers at work and participate in writing events in authentic and well-supported ways. Shared writing lessons will allow me to both model and actively engage students in the writing processes so that they become independent writers. When clear and targeted modeling of the ways in which writers work is presented and co-constructed with students during collaborative, rich discussion, learners develop understanding of the purposes, intrinsic motivation, and techniques of writing. This mobile writing easel will allow me to teach mini writing lessons throughout my classroom by simply moving my easel to where ever my students may be working.
