This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students attend a school in a low-income/high poverty neighborhood in an urban area. As a result, they face adversity both in and out of the classroom. My classroom population consists of first grade children in a self-contained 12:1:1 classroom. Our class consists of students with various disabilities. They are very sweet, and try their best to learn.
All of my students are behind their typically developing peers academically, socially, and behaviorally.
As a result, I am striving to provide them with a quality and meaningful education.
My Project
A class set of Double-Sided Magnetic Write & Wipe Boards, and the accompanying accessories, will enable my students to practice various skills in the classroom. The dry erase boards will be used to practice letter and number formation while using computer programs, writing and decoding words during guided reading rotations, sight word writing practice, and drawing counters to solve math equations.
Using a dry erase board and marker is more appealing and interesting to students than pencil and paper.
This will increase their motivation to participate in classroom activities.
The Lapboard Supply Center will provide students with a prepared environment where they will be able to independently access the materials that they may need.
