Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My preschool students, ages 3 to 5, are full of creativity, curiosity, and heart. They come from low-income families and face daily challenges, but inside our classroom, they shine. This is a brand-new pre-K room, and I’m working hard to fill it with the tools they need to grow, learn, and feel proud of their work.

Due to district budget cuts, our room lacks many basics.

I’m requesting a writing center and a drying rack—two items that will have a big impact on my students.

✏️ The writing center will give children a dedicated space to explore letters, draw, and build fine motor skills. Writing in preschool is about more than just words—it’s the start of storytelling, communication, and confidence. A writing area encourages name writing, labeling pictures, practicing letters, and expressing ideas.

🎨 The drying rack will give students a safe place to put their wet artwork. Without it, their projects are at risk of being smudged, stacked, or thrown away. Every child deserves to see their creations valued and displayed with care.
