Help me give my students a notebook so that they can do their journal reflections...they love writing, and this would make it much simpler rather than having them use a separate sheet of paper every day.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students have so much potential. Their boldness and hunger for success makes them some of the greatest teenagers that I've ever known. So many of them are bright, respectful, and eager to learn. They all have hearts of gold, even the ones who try to act tough. They love to laugh and goof off (as all teenagers do), but they are hardworking and diligent. They care for their learning environment, their school, one another, and they all want to "make a name for themselves." I have no doubt that each of them will be very successful in life.
My Project
An activity that I've started in my classroom is journal reflections. My students write about what they want to accomplish, what they want to be when they grow up, what is going on in their lives, etc. It's a great way for them to open up and to be able to let everything out. High school, after all, is not ever the easiest. It's also a great way for me to be able to go through and check on their grammar, sentence structure, etc. A lot of them cannot afford journals, so we've had to do these on separate sheets of paper. I'd really like to be able to give each student a personal notebook so that they can keep their journal entries at the end of the year.
