Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I have the privilege of teaching students at a school of technology. My students are extraordinary because they face more challenges than most people in our country. My students experience violence daily in our communities and despite these unjust obstacles, they come to school eager to work hard and strive to be peacemakers. My students are constantly improving because we teach our 26 principles of A Disciplined Life that equip them with the tools to create successful and meaningful lives. Every day I see how far my students have come, and it inspires and amazes me. I think if you knew them you would be inspired and amazed too.

My Project

My wrestling team is in it's second year in the sport of wrestling. Last year we had very limited equipment and funding. This year I'm hoping we can get support from donors to help with uniforms. More specifcally we are looking to have warm ups that our wrestlers can wear to meets. They can use them to physically warm up before their match. Right now they just have a school T-shirt which doesn't have the same effect. The warm ups will also be used for them to wear around school to promote the team. This will help bring attention to our team and make it a much more popular sport.
