Wreck This...Art Room?!

My students need a classroom set of Wreck This Journal for art class.

FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Schneider's classroom raised $679

This project is fully funded

My Students

Our art students come from a variety of socio-economic, cultural, and artistic backgrounds. Some of our students come to us and have never created art. I work hard to incorporate art creation, aesthetics, art history and art criticism into my students' lessons and make it my personal goal for these kids to enjoy walking into the art room to create! In our art room, we make connections to the core areas (math, reading, social studies, science, and writing) so students see that art connects to many parts of our lives. Our art students are always creating, doodling, drawing, sculpting, folding, carving. We are a busy classroom!

My Project

Our art students are lucky enough to have art on a regular basis. This means, we make a lot of art! Painting, drawing (pencil, colored pencil, pastels, oil pastels), and printmaking projects are finished every week in the Riverview Middle School art room. While these projects are amazing and real world connections are made, I want my students (regardless of career path) to become lifelong artists. The Wreck This Journal request will allow my 8th grade students to create art on a regular, daily basis while seeing that art can be created in many simple ways (doodling, smearing, tearing, writing, etc.). These journals will teach my students that art, no matter what they are creating, even wrecking a journal, can be a wonderful stress reducer - and great for their health and well being!

The donation would allow my students to create art at home, easily, with basic supplies.

Many of my students do not have scissors, colored pencils, markers, and other art supplies at home. This journal does not require regular art supplies - they can create art with anything! Riverview Middle School art students will see they are ALL artists and can create art for life!
