My students need self adhesive bandages to help cover larger wounds and conceal self-inflicted injuries.

My Students

The students in my attendance area come from low-income families, single parent homes, and are even part of the homeless population. Students experience a high crime rate in the area on a daily basis with offenders being relatives, family friends, and community members.

Many students see school as their safe place and often run to us for help in times of need.

They rely on us and expect staff to be there for support no matter what their role is within the school.

My Project

As the sole nurse in a building of over 1000 individuals I aim to stock my clinic with all essential items to care for any injury. Thankfully my district covers the basics, but things like self adhesive bandages don't fit into the budget. Self-adhesive bandages are used with non-adherent gauze to cover large wounds that the extra large bandages won't cover. But they're also used to cover up more private injuries. Like most schools we have students who are self harming and in middle school cutting seems to be all to common.

Self-adhesive bandages are a crucial part in concealing and healing the self-inflicted wounds to prevent unwanted attention to be drawn to an already difficult situation.
