Help me give my students the love of reading by putting books in their hands.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Sally's classroom raised $658

My Students
I am an elementary librarian in a rural and beautiful area where books are limited to students and families. I serve all 700 students in our school. Our public library is over 10 miles away and we do not have public transit. Therefore, the school library is their only access to books.
My Project
In March of 2020, students went home with books in their hands from the school library. Who knew that they would not be returning to school that year. Because of this, our school library lost over 200 books. No matter the requests that turned into begging, many students did not return their library books. School librarians are seeing their budgets get smaller and smaller. With this decrease comes limited funds to purchase books for the school library. Because of this, librarians have to be selective when choosing which books to buy. This grant will allow our students to access some of the lost books and access the 2022 Newberry and Newberry honor winners and 2022 Caldecott and Caldecott honor winners. These books will help ignite the love of reading again that some of my students lost because of limited access to a library during COVID.
