Wow, We Can Actually Write our Responses on the Table?
Help me give my students a dry erase table so that I can work with small groups to personalize math instruction and as learners display and view their thinking on the table.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My awesome second graders come from a very low socioeconomic background with the majority falling below the poverty line. They are mainly English language learners (80%) and many of them live in homes which house multiple families under the same roof. The median income is well below poverty level, with some being homeless. Some of these seven- and eight-year olds have the sole responsibility of taking care of their younger siblings while their parents are working, with many parents working more than one job. Others are latchkey children.
Our school is Title I and 90% of the children receive free or reduced-price breakfast and lunch.
In addition to the many challenges that these hard-working students face, they also are coping with the fact that our school is situated in a high crime area with frequent gang activity. My children have extremely limited access to technology in their homes, yet with all these obstacles, my students come to school with much enthusiasm and an eager desire to learn.
My Project
Math can be a challenging subject for many students if they do not understand the concept when introduced during whole group instruction. This is why I feel it is imperative to call on my struggling students to ensure they grasp the concept after it has been taught. However, upon calling my struggling students to the carpet, I often find precious instructional time is lost when students have to find their whiteboards and bring them to the carpet for a mini lesson. This is why I am asking for a small whiteboard table so that my students have the opportunity to come directly to the table and write their math problems while showing their work without wasting time to locate their whiteboards. I could see their work instantly and provide immediate feedback. This also eliminates the need for paper and pencils. The possibilities are endless. I am also asking for eraser cloth to be used for cleaning the table. Will you help us bring this learning to life?
