Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Do you remember your first "WOW!" moment in science class? It probably depends on the kind of science instruction you had...If you had the choice to learn science through textbooks or interactive, inquiry and discovery materials, what would you choose?
My students are wonderfully diverse in every aspect--background, socioeconomic status, you name it.
This diversity makes our school rich and engaging, but can also lead to pedagogical challenges. Through exploration that is lively and authentic, students bridge differences around prior knowledge and real-life experiences.
My Project
The materials I'm requesting will help make our lab a place where science is accessible and enjoyable for all. Through games, specimen sets and discovery boxes, children learn to think like scientists, and acquire content knowledge, often without realizing it. Working together cooperatively, using well-designed, kid-friendly materials, makes our science lab truly come ALIVE!
Resources like these, sadly, aren't found in common curriculum kits and they can take a long time to acquire without the generosity of donors.
I deeply appreciate your contributions to making the Brooklyn Arbor science lab a fun-filled place. Through exploration, discovery and practice, let's blind ourselves with science!
