Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Look all around and see what you can see, I see you, what do you see? When we, as adults, look around us, we see many things that children may not pay attention to, unless someone takes the time to open their eyes to all the wonderful, beautiful sights all around us. The world is moving art!
Look all around and see what you can see, I see you, what do you see?
When we, as adults, look around us, we see many things that children may not pay attention to, unless someone takes the time to open their eyes to all the wonderful, beautiful sights all around us. The world is moving art!
My students are 4 and 5 year old, pre-k children, who are just being introduced to formal learning. They are from lower income families and all qualify for free or reduced lunch. We are part of an elementary school where the majority of the students also qualify for free or reduced lunch. My 18 students are all ELL, English Language Learners.
My Project
We will use the photo printer to go along with the digital camera other donors helped to supply, to create new pieces of art. We will be able to take pictures of the environment around us, and of ourselves and our friends while we are playing and learning throughout the day to create new learning tools, such as self made books, and labels. We will be able to use the photos and the printed pictures to help us learn new words, to identify objects which begin with certain letters, to count and group various objects, and to help us learn many other basic, needed, skills, all while learning a new art form. We will also take and print some pictures just for the beauty of the object, such as pictures of flowers, birds, and other environmental objects. We will learn to be creative and to express our thoughts through our photos.
Children need to be exposed to all different types of things at a young age in order for them to develop their own interest.
Art, and the use of photo art, is a new form the children can explore and enjoy. Who doesn't love to smile for the camera, especially when one of your friends is taking the picture? To make it even more special, the children will be able to print their pictures, view them in books they will create, and around the classroom. Life-long, lasting memories, and learning!
