Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am blessed to teach a group of curious, kind, and creative scholars who love science. Many of my students are English Language Learners whose families have chosen my Title 1 community school for their scholars. The majority of my scholars are BIPOC and I believe hands-on Science helps my students learn about future careers and opportunities.

I would like to provide safe viewing glasses for the partial solar eclipse that will occur during our school day so we can view it.

Eclipse glasses are NOT regular sunglasses; regular sunglasses, no matter how dark, are not safe for viewing the Sun. I have asked for reading material about the eclipse as well as extra glasses so that parents can also participate with their children. Students will learn that the next viewable solar eclipse from California's Bay area will happen January 14, 2029, when my students will be in 8th grade.

Thank you in advance for helping me offer this opportunity. Your donation may result in a future astronomer, astrophysicist or a scholar who better understands why solar and lunar eclipses occur.
