This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
The students I serve are typically not used to having nice new things.
Being in a title I school, I feel as though it is very important to
instill the love for learning in the minds of students. My crew (which is what I call them) are all unique in their own way. I have writers, dancers, actors, and even one professional lap drummer. Yes, they are all different, but that is what I love so much about each and every one of them. Every morning they come in with hugs and smiles despite what they came from or what they are going home to at 2:45 pm. I serve about 20-22 little first graders, depending on the time of year, the number varies.
My Project
My students need a place to sit during carpet time that will comfortably fit all 20-22 of them.
The large carpet I hope to receive will help my students in many ways.
For one, they will all be able to comfortably sit on the carpet during whole group time without the rubbing of knees and elbows. It will minimize the issue of touching and students being halfway off the carpet and uncomfortable. Lastly, it will bring a relaxing feel to the room and beautify it even more.
Adding this rug to my classroom will bring a space my students will enjoy going to listen to a story or share out to one another.
As the teacher, it will help with classroom management. Overall, It will make my room complete.
