Would You? Could You Help Us, Please? Dr. Seuss Books Needed
My students need Dr. Seuss books to share in a school wide Dr. Seuss birthday party in which an expected 150-200 children will come, read Dr. Seuss books, and eat cake.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Schmid's classroom raised $566

My Students
Read on! We plead on your goodwill as we tell you of our need!!!
Our school needs Dr. Seuss books a.s.a.p! We believe the home-school connect is vital to ensuring our students' success. Therefore, each month, we host a FREE family activity.
Next month is Dr. Seuss' birthday, so we planned a birthday party in his honor.
We invited our families and estimated about 150-200 children and family members to attend this literacy based event.
We ran into a "bump" in the road! Our plan was to order many Dr. Seuss books from our district's area library. Then, children could enjoy reading various Dr. Seuss books with their families before eating birthday cake at the birthday party! However, our area library informed us they could only loan our school 20 books. It seems ALL schools in our district request Seuss books around this time of year. The school library can loan us 20 books and the staff have some books, but...and this is where my request comes in. It would be SO GREAT if someone could donate about 50 Seuss books (or any Seuss books would be greatly appreciated) before March first! There will be at least 150 people attending. We have a student body of 500.
Thanks for considering this priceless opportunity.
My Project
Your generosity would enhance the first grade classroom AND our school's student body. The Dr. Seuss books are fun to read, great teaching texts for rhyming, and will afford the families to bond at the March 1st school-wide Dr. Seuss Birthday Party! The selected Dr. Seuss books include five boxed sets of six books each. Duplicate copies came at a reduced price and will make excellent texts to use in our classroom after the school-wide Dr. Seuss birthday party extravaganza! Also, I selected some Spanish versions of the Dr. Seuss stories. This would allow the Hispanic families to participate in the fun! We have four first grade classrooms, and I would share these duplicate books with the other teachers as well.
If you choose this request, please know that you are helping form a firm foundation for many children's love of reading.
The families of my classroom (and school) are often too busy, stressed, or tired to have fun reading with their boys and girls. Isn't that sad? By providing funds for this upcoming (YIKES...March 1st is soooo close!) opportunity, there will be Moms, Dads, Aunts, Uncles, Grandparents who will possibly remember the fun as they enjoy reading Dr. Seuss books with their kid!
