My Project

My little kindergarten scientists are hand-on learners. They are the happiest when they have the opportunity to experience the world around them. My class is diverse with students from many different backgrounds and have varying opportunities in life. I believe that this composting project and live worms would help my students learn about science in a practical yet fun way!

My kindergarten students will study the life cycle of plants, decomposition, and the role of worms in nutrient cycling.

While developing an understanding of the importance of composting for reducing waste and improving soil health.

While the students interact with the compost and worms allows a tactile learning experience, engaging multiple senses. This will also help engage our social-emotional skills by taking care of the worms teaches responsibility and empathy for living creatures.
