Worley's Wonderful Wands: Creating Magic in the Classroom

My Students
I am a teacher of the most amazing grade in the world, third grade! They are always striving to be the best kids they can be. They are leaders who plan on leading the world in a great direction someday! Children at this age are eager to learn.
I have 25 hard-working and enthusiastic learners in my class.
They put so much energy into everything they do. It brings a smile to my face to see them engaged and wanting to learn. We have some special need students who require a lot of peer support. It warms my heart daily to see how supportive they are to each other.
My Project
My team creates the most magical experience for our third graders. We read fantasy stories, focusing on the world famous Harry Potter series. We show students that reading can be magical. We are immersed in reading, writing, and experimenting in the fantasy world. The resources I've requested will help the students to be more engaged during the week. With their own wand, they will definitely get to feel as if they are immersed in a whole new place.
We begin the week with an actor who comes and measures each child for their own special wand.
Each student then learns about the "unique characteristics" of his/her own wand. Students practice the art of speaking fluently and with expression while using their wands. They learn and practice spells using their best voice and the "magical" wands help them be so expressive. In the past, we have purchased the supplies with our own money. This donation will mean so much to us. Students come back years later saying they still have their wands and that this was one of their favorite parts of school. It warms my heart to know that it means so much to them.
