By providing choice reading, I will be proving diverse ways to buy into our curriculum that reflects the diversity of my students' skills and interests. This is especially exciting to think about in regard to World War II literature as there are so many different places in the world that were impacted by the war and so many different perspectives to learn from.
Many of our students come to us reading far below grade level and by allowing them to choose their texts, we are empowering them to engage with reading in a new way.
It is especially crucial that our students each have their own copy of their text to work with both in school and at home.
