Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach 7th and 8th grade social studies to four wonderful classes of students in south Phoenix. My students are highly motivated and curious about the world we live in.

Our classroom community fosters a culture of respect and equity for all who enter it.

We seek to further our understanding of the world and learn better ways we can help our school community every day.

My Project

Students will be able to read these informational texts to further increase their reading abilities and give them greater knowledge of other cultures around the world.

Students who are curious about other countries will be able to get a better understanding of their culture while increasing their reading abilities.

Some of the texts include information about the cultures of Russia, China and Italy as well as the history of the US westward expansion including settlers, the frontier, Native American groups and overall life during the time period. An additional text about the history of military technology will be interesting and informative to many students.
