This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I love that my students are fascinated by the mythos and folklore of various cultures from around the world. They love seeing the similarities and difference between cultures as they read about different myths from around the world.
Knowledge of the creation and other myths from around the world provide students with a strong background in the use of literary allusion.
Any knowledge of world mythology can then be used as background knowledge to access higher level texts written by William Shakespeare, Maya Angelou, JRR Tolkien, Toni Morrison, Ray Bradbury and Octavia Butler, among many others. The more you read, the more you know!
