Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
There's no place like school. For my students school is a safe haven, a place where they can let their creativity shine. At our school students express themselves through the arts. They engage in dance, art, drama and music. My scholars are full of energy and eager to learn.
We are a title I school located in the heart of Brownsville, Brooklyn.
When my scholars walk through the doors at 7:30am they are busy and ready to learn. We are the first charter school in NYC and New York state to become a Leader in Me Light house school. We don't only focus on academics, we also focus on character. My students learn how to be risk takers, they learn how to show empathy, and they learn the importance of being principled. They are our future world leaders, and they know it!
My Project
For my students science is exciting! Math is a blast! and in ELA they take a trip with their favorite book; But there is always one subject that brings their energy levels down, social studies. In grade 3 we learn about different countries, and we also make time for current events. However, many of my students just don't get excited for social studies class.
This project will help my scholars become more invested in worldly matters.
I can already picture their excitement as they open their weekly magazines. The interactive smartboard features will keep them engaged and focused.
This time for kids subscription will heighten their love for social studies. In turn preparing them for the world at large.
