Help me give my students a range of world instruments and literature to meet their diverse backgrounds and encourage making music from all around the world!

My Project

My Kindergarten, First, and Second Grade students are so beautiful, diverse, and full of excitement for making music! Having a wider array of instruments from countries that their families have called home for a great part of their lives will help make my music classroom relatable to them and honor their cultures. In an effort to promote literacy in the music classroom, the students will also be able to learn authentic stories from many cultures and see how that translates to playing on the different types of percussion from those cultures.

Students will be learning about different instrument timbres, history, techniques, and creating their own music with drums from India, Africa, and the Caribbean.

As well as practicing and performing in class, students will have the opportunity to perform in an end of year talent show using these instruments.

The parachute will bring endless joy as we move to the form of different music listening selections, and learn about tempo, dynamics, and much more with movement and fun!
