Mrs. Breslow from Kansas City MO is requesting musical instruments through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
See what Mrs. Breslow is requestingMy students need tubanos for the World Music Drumming curriculum. They are expensive-but they vary in price because they are different sizes, which leads to being able to play different parts in an ensemble.

My students walk into our music classroom eager to learn, to sing and to get their hands on instruments every day! I teach music to Pre-K through 4th graders, and they love engaging in music through singing, dancing and playing anything that makes sound. They are energetic, curious and they work hard to excel musically.
I teach at a Title I school in Kansas City, MO where 100 percent of the students receive free/reduced breakfast and lunch.
Many of my students receive backpack food on the weekend, donated clothes, coats, and uniforms. Few students have access to instruments at home.
I am committed to this school and this community and I love my students. I am certified to teach World Music Drumming curriculum, which uses an extensive amount of cross-cultural music from Africa, the Caribbean and South America. We have been using bucket drums for the past year. However, I desire to give them authentic drumming experiences to get them more engaged in the music and in their learning through this project!
I can't even imagine how excited my students' faces would be if these drums showed up at the school! Unlike bucket drums, Remo Tubanos are easy to learn how to play correctly on and have a high quality of sound.
The school I work at is strategically placed in a community that has a need for interactive educational programs such as world music drumming.
My desire is to not only use these drums daily in my classroom, but to also have an extra-curricular drumming club after school for hard-working students to learn more intensive and higher levels of world music. I really can't describe how incredibly appreciative I would be for any help in purchasing these drums. I have used tubanos before in classrooms and the energy and excitement they give to students in a music classroom really is amazing to experience. My students and I would use them for many, many years to come. They are durable, child-friendly, culturally modeled after real African drums and they are FUN!
