The students at my middle school come from a high-poverty area. Many speak Spanish at home and struggle with English at school. Most come from large families with several school-age children. We also have many military families.
The majority of our students' families are long-time residents of the area, with families loyal to our school district.
Because of this, we feel like family with a shared future: our students!
These students deserve the best education we can possibly give them and sometimes that means having to go outside for help for items the district can't provide.
Due to the lack of resources and finances in their families, there are many places our students will never get to experience. Students who have never had the opportunity to travel and visit far-away places, are often left feeling disconnected, bored and left-out. Their personal lack of experience makes learning about the world more difficult for them.
World Atlases help my students discover the world, one continent at a time.
These atlases are essential to our study of the world, but are not provided for the students. A class set of these atlases will enable my students to study the places we discuss in class.
