This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am honored to teach Kindergarten students from diverse backgrounds and experiences. My learners come with varying degrees of access to books and literature but they all enjoy engaging with books in the classroom. I teach emerging bilinguals in a Spanish Immersion program where we highly value the importance of reading.
For 12 years I have watched readers come to life when students are able to see and choose books for themselves.
Learning two languages is no small feat. My students take on the challenge and are eager to learn how to read and explore books. By helping to fund this particular project, I will be able to create a leveled book display where students can choose books that interest them.
