Our students are incredible! Almost all of them are living in government housing surrounded by violence, many are immigrants with English as a second Language, many do not have basic needs met. All of our students receive free breakfast and lunch at school.
At Eakin, we strive to provide a place for children to learn and thrive and celebrate diversity!
Our Positive Behavior in School Program focuses on 3 school behaviors: be safe, responsible & respectful. Teachers award points when these behaviors are exhibited. Students use points to buy small items or attend monthly fun events, such as Children's Day.
Last year, our Children's Day celebration was appreciated by students and parents alike. Parents came to school ( which is somewhat unusual) and sang traditional Mexican songs and helped students hit the piñata.
