This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
For the past couple of years flexible seating has proven to be great classroom resource. While we all know the difficulties of sitting in a standard desk chair all day working as the norm, most of my students find it too difficult. This generation finds it extremely difficult to stay put in one hard, confining, 25-year-old desk to learn. This generation just cant sit in the same chairs that were purchased for students two generations ago.
As teenagers, it is unnatural for students to sit still in the same spot in a standard desk, for hours at a time.
Wanting to encourage movement and comfort so that each student can find their best learning style is my objective.
These tables are an amazing resource to keep students in their seats, doing their work while wiggling and moving and yet remaining seated. These tables also offer my students some much-needed extra space.
For the past three years, I've written several DonorsChoose projects asking for flexible chairs and tables. We've received about 85% of the tables (and chairs) needed to have a full classroom set. Giving students the opportunity to move a little will help them focus on the academic task at hand and be successful. These tables will optimize our classroom learning as the ones we do have, have proven.
Thank you for your time, consideration, and support of public school children. When you care about students, you support equity, making our future better.
