My Project

Flexible seating is the best way to teach teenagers. While we all know the difficulties of sitting in a standard desk chair all day working as the norm, most of my students find it too difficult. Since virtual learning a few years back, students find it difficult to sit in traditional classroom desks. Students have an extremely difficult time staying put in one hard confining 25 year old desk to learn.

As teenagers, it is unnatural for students to sit still in the same spot (a standard desk) for hours at a time as they are being asked to do.

Encouraging movement and comfort are important goals in my classroom.

Wiggling, moving and yet remaining seated, these tables are an amazing resource of keeping my students in their seats doing their work. These tables also offer my students some much needed extra space. Our current standard desks are more than 25 years old, very restricting, small, and falling apart with duck tape holding them together.

In the last year, I've written several DC projects asking for flexible chairs and tables. Luckily these project have been funded. This Lakeshore table would be for the Lakeshore flexible wobble chairs which were recently funded. Giving students the opportunity to move a little will help them focus on the academic task at hand and be successful academically. This table will optimize our classroom learning as the ones I do have, have proven. This last table will complete my entire classroom set of flexible tables and chairs.
