I need the opportunity to attend these two workshops to learn how to support my students at the start of the September 2020 school year, taking into consideration the pandemic and remote learning.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Being a Special Education Teacher in the inner-city, my students struggle with everyday life. All my students have a story and deal with issues kids shouldn't have to deal with. Being out of school for 4 months has definitely played a toll on our students academically, emotionally, socially, and physically.
Every September we get a new set of beautiful faces, but now more than ever, our students deserve to get the best quality classroom environment and education after having to be out of school for all those months.
The classroom environment is going to be the most crucial part of keeping our students engaged and safe while we continue to fight this pandemic. After having to stay home during this pandemic to keep safe, students deserve the best and safest environment we can offer.
My Project
Our students are currently suffering academically, physically, emotionally, and socially by not being in the classroom environment with their teachers and their peers. In order to support my students the best I can, I would love to attend two workshops over the summer to help strengthen my teaching for the upcoming year as a 3rd grade Special Education Teacher.
One workshop will teach me different strategies on how to redesign the classroom to make it a more engaging and safe environment; another workshop will teach me how to work with students with low-functioning autism, taking into consideration the pandemic and remote learning.
Our students deserve the most support in every way when they return to the classroom. I would like to attend these workshops to make sure I am able to give my students the knowledge and environment they deserve.
