Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Someone once said, “Tell me and I forget; show me and I remember; involve me and I understand.” My students need hands-on activities to engage them and provide invaluable hands-on exploration experiences during workshop time.
The students at our learning community school excellent educational resources.
They come from modest, working class to low income backgrounds. Our school has been hit hard by the current economic crisis, and simply do not have the same educational opportunities that children have in other areas. Because we are a Title I school a vast majority of our students qualify for free or reduced lunch. Our school may lack the material privileges that other schools are fortunate to have, but our students certainly make up for it with talent, determination, and sheer intelligence. We live in a world where our youth are not equitably provided with enough quality resources to shine; your donation will make the dream of a bright future come true.
My Project
All of the materials in this selection are useful for exploring concepts taught in kindergarten and first grade. The materials will be used in various learning center workshops throughout the classroom. These materials will promote number sense, phonemic awareness, phonics, and literacy skills, while engaging students in a fun and meaningful way. They will enable students to work cooperatively while also working independently at their own skill level. It is my goal to develop literacy & mathematical skills while differentiating instruction to ensure that all students are adequately challenged with rigorous learning activities.
All students deserve to learn in an engaging and stimulating environment.
The students of today are the leaders of tomorrow. It is important that we educate them will, for they are the future of our country. My students need materials that engage them in meaningful learning experiences while preparing them for a bright, successful future.
